Can you hear, build, feel, see, taste, wear, touch, experience… the music?
Welcome to the world that is my brain: constnt nerdy & creative fun! So there’s this one song that I’ve been addicted to lately, and when I listen to it, I see it manifested in design. What does this even mean?? Well, when I hear songs, I feel a connection to them in forms of dance, architecture, art, fashion, etc. When I first heard Santigold’s “You’ll Find A Way” remixed by Switch & Sinden, besides wanting to dance like they do on So You Think You Can Dance, I thought of designs that brought the song to life physically. Physical forms that, if they could talk or make noise, would sound like this song. Have a listen and look-see!
“You’ll Find a Way” – by Santigold, Remixed by Switch & Sinden
The Porta Fira Towers by Toyo Ito and b720 Arquitectos reflect the loud part of the chorus, which is wild and wonky – like the curvy red metal façade.
Then there’s the soft parts of the chorus and verses with the repetitive metronome, like the smooth surfaces behind the façade articulated by repetitive columns, windows, floor tiles and metal panels.
This getup just screams “You’ll Find a Way,” doesn’t it? I’d love to frolic around and dance in it to that song! Imagine how that colorful fringe would flow. Just gorgeous!
… and definitely these sandals.
Or this dress worn by Katniss (actress Jennifer Lawrence) in “The Hunger Games.” The Girl On Fire!
“Cajun Hot Sauce,” a painting by Metro, a retired race horse.
